Paul Gammill was born on February 16, 1946 in Freeport, Texas and passed on June 17, 2009 in Austin Texas in his apartment. He was cremated and laid to rest at the family plot in Ozark, Arkansas near the Arkansas River by Fort Smith. He is survivedby three brothers, Charles, David and Kenny Gammill and many nieces and nephews from Houston and the South Texas area.

He was born in Freeport, Texas and went to Brazosport High School, and he moved to moved to Austin in October, 1971. He was quickly drawn to the Austin music and art scene, which he was part for the rest of his life. Long friendships were created out of this lifestyle, with artists, musicians and music lovers among his close friends. He became a long standing fan and friend of the Toni Price Happy Hippy Hour at the Continental Club for more than a decade. At breaktime, in the back of the Club, he would hold your attention with his wit, wisdom and offbeat attitude.

He lived his life EXACTLY as he wanted to even after numerous challenges were thrown at him. He kept getting back up and livin' life to the fullest with a smile and a story. He loved cooking and truly enjoyed cooking wonderful foods for his friends. He was greatly immersed in the Austin music community at the Happy Hippy Hour with Toni Price at the Continental Club, at the Kerrville Folk Festival, the Old Settlers Festival, Blues on the Green and many other music gatherings and parties. Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt were among his very favorite songwriters and he would go to a Guy Clark show whenever he could. He was a great friend, live music lover and a shining spirit in Austin, Texas, whose joy of life and presence touched many people. He faced hardships like diabetes and the loss of a leg due to the disease. The cops even shot him once in his good leg, but that's another story! He was
affectionately called "Peg-leg Paul" by some folks. He will live forever in our hearts!

We'll miss his wry and sometimes wicked grin, keen sense of humor and his drawly way of telling grand tales. Rest in Peace, Paul.

We will be presenting a photo gallery here for all to remember him by, soon. If anyone has photos or stories to share, please email Steven Ray Austin (steve at enigmamedia.net).
